Earthquake hits Japan: 6.4 magnitude tremor strikes near Honshu day after Alaska

The quake hit Hokkaido, 103 km (64 miles) northeast of the island of the popular Honshu island, at a depth of 64 km (40 miles). It landed in the Ring of Fire, so-called because a huge number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions take place there.
